Wild and Scenic River Section Trips - Multi-Day

Wildlife on the Rogue RiverThe canyons charm lies in its thrilling whitewater stretches, alternated with mild riffles, placid pools, and narrow canyons edged by towering cliffs. The old growth Douglas fir forest, mixed with deciduous trees, creates a perfect river bank habitat for the abundant wildlife of the Rogue River Canyon. Otter, beaver, deer, Roosevelt elk, black bear, cougars, osprey, bald eagles, mallards, wood ducks, wild turkeys, and many others flourish in the wilderness river canyon.

Oar rafts, paddle rafts, and inflatable kayaks are all available on our Wild Section Trips. The whitewater on the Wild Section is rated class III - IV in the canyon with two world famous Class IV+ rapids: Blossom Bar Rapid and Mule Creek Canyon. Duration of the trips are from two to four days and cover nearly 40 miles by river. Participants may choose to camp out under the stars, stay in historic wilderness lodges, or combine one or two nights of camping with one night of lodging.

3-Day and 4-Day Camping Whitewater Raft Trips

For an outdoor wilderness trip, you may wish to "rough it" by camping out under the stars. Camp trips with Rogue Wilderness are a gourmet camping experience. River bank camping provides a true wilderness experience free from the infringements of civilization. At the end of the rafting day, guides set up camp and become chefs in the preparation of delicious camp meals. You just relax and enjoy the scenic splendor of the wilderness corridor while all camp chores are expertly handled by our staff.

Trip begins at 8:00am. The "Wild and Scenic" portion of the Rogue River is a "permitted" entry system regulated by the Bureau Land Management and United States Forest Service. Due to the limited entry system and the popularity of these trips, early reservations are strongly recommended.

2-Day, 3-Day and 4-Day Wilderness Lodge Trips

If you prefer the accouterments of civilization, historic wilderness lodging is available. Accessible only by river, these rustic lodges provide a wilderness experience that is quaintly civilized and speaks of the history of time gone by. After a day on the river, you can enjoy a hot shower, dine on a delicious family-style meal, and drift off to sleep in a comfortable bed. Our three day trip is our recommended lodge trip, allowing time for relaxation and exploration of side canyons and scenic hikes. There is even time for bank fishing for the famous Salmon and Steelhead of the Rogue River.

Paradise Lodge on the Rogue RiverIf you are limited in time, Rogue Wilderness offers a two day lodge trip through the Rogue River Canyon. You will travel the same distance as our longer trips, but you will go faster with little opportunity for exploration. The first day, approximately 26 river miles will be covered. Navigating a multitude of class III rapids and the two world famous class 4+ rapids makes this an exciting and challenging experience. Lodging is provided at one of the historic river canyon lodges.

Trips begin at 8:00am. The "Wild & Scenic" portion of the Rogue River is a "permitted" entry system regulated by the bureau of Land Management and United States Forest Service. Due to the limited entry system and the popularity of these trips, early reservations are strongly recommended.

3-Day and 4-Day Camping and Wilderness Lodge Trips

Our camp/lodge trips are our most popular offering, combining the best of both worlds: camping and wilderness lodging. On a combination trip, you'll spend one or two nights in camp followed by one night at a famous wilderness lodge. Rogue Wilderness Adventures believes this is our best overall offering. There is a very special bonding that is experienced on camping trips, and because of the logistical placement of the lodges, we prefer to camp the first two night, dividing the trip equally between the days.

Trips begin at 8:00am. The "Wild and Scenic" portion of the Rogue River is a "permitted" entry system regulated by the bureau of Land Management and United States Forest Service. Due to the limited entry system and the popularity of these trips, early reservations are strongly recommended.

Paddles and Pints 2010 Weekend

Paddles and Pints Rafting Trip Labor Day WeekendTwo great Oregon traditions—whitewater rafting and micro brewed beer—will come together as Rogue Wilderness Adventures launches their first “Paddles and Pints” trip. This veteran rafting company who has been taking guests down the Rogue River for over 38 years is partnering with Oregon brew master Mark Vickery for days of thrilling whitewater and sipping on frosty, delicious locally crafted beers.

With over 20 years of brewing experience and an armful of awards for beers like Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter, Mark Vickery has a resume that reflects his professional expertise in the beer world. For the last five years Mark has been the head brewer at Golden Valley Brewery in McMinnville, Oregon. Mark honed his beer making skills in the trenches at the Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon, where he and his fellow brewers created some of the most iconic beers the world has seen. Marks passion is to create beers that use fresh hops and other local ingredients that are available near the brewery.

This trip will be a 3 day, 2 night rafting excursion down the wild and scenic Rogue River Canyon. During the day, the staff of Rogue Wilderness Adventures will take paddlers down one of the most beautiful whitewater rivers in the country. Evenings will be spent camping on sandy beaches as guides serve mouthwatering riverside fare that perfectly complements beer tasting: dishes like steak, grilled shrimp, and fajitas.  Mark will be lecturing each evening on his favorite beer types and how each one is created.

The beer tastings are as follows:

First Night: Northwest pale ales and Indian pale ales, Pilsners and Lagers, German, Czech, Dutch, Mexican and American
Second Night: Belgian Beers like Whit beer, Trappist Dubbel, exotic hybrids from Belgium

The trip includes all meals, beer, equipment, guides, and transportation.
